How results are produced
We aggregate live SERPs from 17 real engines, so what an agent sees is what a human would see searching Google, Bing, Reddit, or Baidu directly. Chinese platforms — WeChat articles, Bilibili videos, Sogou and 360 web results, Quark — are first-class engines with dedicated endpoints.
Exa embeds and indexes the web itself into a neural index. That enables semantic retrieval (“find pages like this”) and very fast instant answers, but coverage depends on their crawl, not on any public engine.
If your agent needs ground-truth SERP data or the Chinese web, Search1API covers it natively. If you need similarity-style retrieval over English content, Exa’s index is purpose-built for that.
Content fetching
A complete crawl stack: /crawl returns cleaned page content, /deepcrawl walks entire sites with status polling, /sitemap enumerates URLs, /screenshot renders pages (12 parameters including full-page, viewport, and dark mode), and /extract turns a URL into schema-shaped data.
There is no site-level crawler. /contents fetches single pages via livecrawl with subpages, highlights, summaries, and cache control — strong per-page tooling, but it will not traverse a domain.
Both return clean text; only Search1API can enumerate and pull whole sites, and Exa bills each content type separately while our crawl endpoints cost a flat credit.
Agent integration
Hosted MCP server over Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1 (PKCE + dynamic client registration) instead of pasting keys into URLs, the s1 CLI with OAuth login, official Agent Skills, and TypeScript/Python SDKs. Searches support array batching — failed items are not billed.

These are real capabilities we do not currently match.
