2026

Ask is now Agentic Search

  • The POST /ask page is now the Agentic Search API, listed as 智能搜索 in the Chinese navigation. The endpoint and pricing are unchanged.
  • Agentic Search hands your agent only on-topic, deduplicated results. A decision model picks the engines and scores every result, and results below 0.5 are dropped, so one call replaces several engine searches and your agent spends fewer tokens on off-topic pages.
  • The decision model is TypeSafe Jev today. We are gradually adding support for more decision models.
  • The request now takes only query. The sources, time_range, and max_results fields were removed: the decision model always chooses the engines and the time window, and a response holds at most 10 results. Requests that still send these fields keep working, and the fields are ignored. To pick the engine yourself, use POST /search.

Ask API: natural language web search with TypeSafe Jev

  • POST /ask takes a request in natural language and returns only relevant web results. TypeSafe’s Jev model detects the intent, picking the keyword query and time window, and routes the request to up to five of 12 engines searched in parallel.
  • Jev then reranks every result by relevance. Results below 0.5 are dropped, duplicates are merged, and each result keeps its score. sources and time_range override the routing, and intent shows the keywords, engines, and window that were used.
  • A completed request costs a flat 5 credits, model calls included. If no engine completes, the request is not charged. Ask requires an API key, is limited to 30 requests per minute per account, and is not yet in the SDKs, CLI, MCP server, or x402/MPP.

Search1API connector and plugin for Claude

Search1API is now available in Claude as a connector and a plugin. Both provide the same five tools to search the live web, follow the news, read pages, discover site links, and check trending topics.

Add the connector for the MCP tools, or install the plugin to get those tools and a Search1API Agent Skill together. The Agent Skill guides Claude in choosing tools and answering with source links.

Both connect to the same Search1API service. Sign in with your Search1API account through OAuth; tool calls use your account credits.

GitHub issues, pull requests, and dates on results

  • GitHub search returns issues, pull requests, and discussions alongside repositories. Each result is labelled with kind, plus stars on repos and comment counts on threads.
  • Search and news results carry published_date when the source exposes one, so a model can tell how fresh a page is.
  • X search now honours time range and language. Reddit pages put on-topic posts first.

Native plugins for Hermes, OpenClaw, and OpenCode

  • Hermes Agent gets live web access as first-class tools — install with hermes plugins install superagents-lab/hermes-search1api --enable.
  • OpenClaw installs from ClawHub: openclaw plugins install clawhub:@fatwang2/openclaw-search1api.
  • OpenCode: opencode plugin opencode-search1api.

Dedicated crawl for major sites

  • LinkedIn, Reddit, X, YouTube, GitHub, Hacker News, Stack Overflow, Hugging Face, WeChat, npm, PyPI, Bilibili, and CSDN now have dedicated crawl paths that return clean Markdown instead of generic page chrome.
  • Coverage is measured by URL pattern; login-walled or blocked URLs return a named error rather than a blank page.
  • See the site parsers guide.

Change your credits plan in the dashboard

  • Upgrade, downgrade, or switch between monthly and annual billing from your subscription card — no need to leave the dashboard.
  • Upgrades and switches to annual take effect right away. Downgrades and switches to monthly apply at the end of your current billing period.
  • Open the dashboard to manage your plan.

Redeem credit codes

  • Enter a code from an event, partner, or support in the dashboard to add credits to your account.
  • Redeemed credits show up separately so you can see what's left and when they expire.
  • Each code can be redeemed once per account. Start from the dashboard when you have a code.

Credits top-up and auto top-up

  • Top up any amount from $5 to $2,000. The base rate is $1 = 1,000 credits, and larger top-ups receive a bonus on the whole amount.
  • Top-up credits never expire. Subscription allowances still reset each month and are spent first.
  • Optional auto top-up charges the amount you set after your combined available balance falls below your threshold.
  • Auto top-up is off by default, capped at three charges in 24 hours, and turns itself off after repeated payment failures.
  • Read the launch note or start from the pricing page.

DeepSeek Harness plugin

  • dsh-s1 gives your DeepSeek Harness agent live web access — web search, news, page retrieval, sitemap discovery, and trending topics — as first-class dsh tools with no MCP bridge.
  • Runs in-process against the official SDK, with a bundled s1 skill that teaches the model when to search, crawl, or go deeper.
  • Install with dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-s1.

Hosted MCP now speaks MCP 2026-07-28

  • Search1API's hosted MCP server at https://mcp.search1api.com/mcp supports the Model Context Protocol revision 2026-07-28, published on July 28, 2026.
  • The revision makes MCP stateless: protocol-level sessions and the initialize handshake are gone, and every request carries its protocol version and client capabilities in _meta.
  • Added server/discover so a client can read the supported protocol versions, server capabilities, and server identity before sending anything else.
  • Clients on the 2025 protocol revisions continue to work unchanged over both HTTP and stdio.
  • Published search1api-mcp 0.5.1 to npm and to the Official MCP Registry.
  • Read MCP 2026-07-28: The Protocol Goes Stateless or start with the MCP documentation.

Screenshot API launched

  • Added POST /screenshot for capturing a public webpage as PNG, JPEG, or WebP.
  • Supports full-page, viewport, and visible-element captures, with controls for page readiness, viewport size, dark mode, animations, and timeouts.
  • Added binary-response support to the official TypeScript and Python SDKs and runnable examples for every documented language.
  • Successful screenshots cost 2 credits, failed requests are not charged, and bearer-authenticated account-credit requests have a dedicated limit of 10 requests per minute per account.
  • Read the launch note or start with the Screenshot API documentation.

Official TypeScript and Python SDKs launched

  • Released @search1api/client for TypeScript and JavaScript applications and search1api for synchronous and asynchronous Python applications.
  • Added typed or language-native requests, structured errors, configurable timeouts, safe retries, batch operations, and DeepCrawl polling helpers.
  • Unified the SDKs around Search1API's public OpenAPI contract and published both projects under the superagents-lab GitHub organization.
  • Published the launch note and the official SDK guide.

OAuth 2.1 for agents, MCP, and CLI

  • Added OAuth 2.1 Authorization Code with PKCE and Dynamic Client Registration for AI agents and native clients, including access tokens, refresh tokens, and standard revocation metadata.
  • Enabled OAuth discovery and Bearer-token authentication across the REST API and Hosted MCP while keeping existing API keys fully supported on the same account, credits, billing, rate limits, and usage reporting.
  • Updated the first-party Search1API CLI so s1 login runs the complete OAuth public-client flow and refreshes expired access tokens automatically.
  • Published the launch note and expanded the CLI, MCP, Authentication, and agent-readable auth.md documentation.

Blog experience redesigned

  • Redesigned the blog homepage, article index, and article pages with a clearer editorial layout that works for both image-led and text-only posts.
  • Aligned navigation, brand colors, theme switching, and return paths with the main Search1API site.
  • Improved long-form reading with a focused content column and a simplified top-level table of contents.

Changelog redesigned

  • Introduced a dedicated date-based update stream at /changelog, grouped by year and release date without version numbers.
  • Kept EmDash as the source of truth, so updates are still edited and published through the existing CMS workflow.
