Search results come from Search1API, so rankings and snippets can differ from DeepSeek’s own search.
Search returns sources and snippets. need_content is ignored; web_fetch reads a page as Markdown.
The compatible search request does not expose engine, recency or site filters, or generated answers.
DeepSeek connection questions
Do I need the dsh-s1 plugin?
No. The built-in tools cover web search and page reading. Choose dsh-s1 when you also need news, agentic search, sitemap discovery or trending topics. The Harness integration guide covers both routes.
Which API key should I enter?
Use your Search1API API key, not a DeepSeek key. Harness sends it to the configured endpoint as a Bearer token. To switch back to DeepSeek’s own search, restore its base URL and re-enter a DeepSeek key.
How much do search and fetch cost?
One search costs 1 credit and one fetched page costs 1 credit, using your existing Search1API balance and account rate limit. New accounts include 100 free credits.
